Education dose not only mean giving knowledge about books but it
also means proper up-bringing, where a child must know the “dos”
and don’ts” and what is wrong” and “what is right”.
Children are always in need of guidance, encouragement and
appreciation to assist in building up their self-confidence. So
parents should always praise a child when he/she has done well
in his/her examinations, or encourage the child to do well if
he/she fails in his/her examination, find out the reason for
his/her bad performance and try to solve it.
Parents should never make a habit of keeping the child away from
school away from school on minor pretexts like a party or an
invitation to uncle’s house or an arrival of an aunt. This may
become habit and the child will miss his/her lessons and their
school record will not be as good as could be. Another factor a
parent should bear in mind is the constant changes or new
environment.
The child may not be able to make new friend. He/She being a
loner may even refuse to go to school, thus misses his/her
classes. A child must be made to understand that his/her first take is to
study, and must to be taught to cope with stress and anxiety at
home and school. Any kind of stress or tension will also have an
adverse effect on the child and a disturbed child can never
excel in his/her studies.
Parents should often talk to their child about the school and
environment. Any complaints brought from school should be heard
and taken up wisely. Parents approach to their child about
education and new experience should be gentle and they should
assist to express his/her opinion at home. In doing so, a child
may be able to speak and voice his/her ideas in class. As it is
always the courageous child who can be a achiever and not a shy
child.
So, Parents must always remember that besides school they are
the best educator of their own child. |
